On July 26, 2008, the Federal Bureau of
Investigation celebrated 100 years
of public service. The FBI's
internet web site can give you insights into the past and what the FBI plans
are for the future. In the meantime, the FBI started as a small
group of 34 investigators and has grown into a cadre of more than 30,000 employees,
evolving right along with the changing threats facing our nation.
Our Special Agents assigned to investigate
violent crimes continue to pursue bank robbers, who threaten the
employees of our local banks, the customers in the banks, and the
citizens in our community.
Our Special Agents work diligently to
investigate bank robbers. The Special Agents collect all
types of evidence during the commission of a bank robbery.
The new technology of DNA has given the Special
Agents a new tool in identifying and apprehending these violent
criminals. This technology is a very specific science and years of
education and training are necessary before our scientists are able to
extract DNA from items of evidence. The procedure of
extracting DNA is a very timely examination.
These types of evidence examinations are not
like the crime scene television shows which collected DNA
evidence, analyzed the evidence, and arrest the subject in one hour.
One of the major sources of information
developed to identify criminals has always been the citizens in our
communities that have information about a specific crime. Bank
robbery is no different and a majority of the identifications of bank
robbers is TIPS through our community.
So please take the time to look through all the bank robbery photographs
from each of the three Florida FBI Divisions. There might be
someone that you have met recently or may have moved into your
neighborhood that matches one of the subjects. Fill out our
TIPS form and help us all take these type of
people out of our communities.
We will be updating this bank robbery site and adding a range of new
photographs from Florida's bank robberies.
